The Ryder Cup...Mucking it up with Bad Rain Gear in Newport, Wales...

So now that the Fedex Cup issue has been settled, and as the bulk of weekend television sports coverage transitions to football, baseball playoffs, and yes, for some, even the beginning of the new NBA season; the closest thing to the Olympics of golf, with it's history of drama and story lines, begins anew this weekend.  Already...weather has ramped up the urgency of each match played in the United States vs. Europe classic, as the distinct possibility that this event could be shortened looms large, and Rory McIlroy has said that Woods is an unintimidating challenge currently. The Europeans opened up an early advantage in four-ball competition, at what is essentially their home course, as the Wales open has been played there the last three years, but the U.S. team is used the short window of play after the restart to mount a comeback.  Will Tiger be tamed by the upstart McIlroy and friends, or will Bubba and the boys Keep Battlin' and bring the Cup back with them from Across the Pond?...

After all the build-up around the weather, it was building pressure that ultimately determined the final outcome of the 2010 Ryder Cup.  After having all of the rest of the individual matches conclude, and the weight of the responsibility for Team USA's fate hoisted upon his shoulders, young Hunter Mahan, chunked a chip shot from just off the green, on what turned out to be the last hole of the tournament, to make the final put of Team Europe's Graeme McDowell unnecessary, as the match, and the tournament were conceded on the par three17th.  Hunter and the the rest of the team had made a dramatic comeback to be that position,  but the final hole is another example of a professional, the game he plays, and the helplessness of the situation he was in, illustrating the primary theme of Team Bogey, and a message we'd like to send to Hunter Mahan:

but there's no help in sight; so what are you gonna do???
