He Loves It and She Hates It...Or does She?

A recent meeting with a female business associate to discuss bookkeeping matters, led to a discussion about Team Bogey, which in turn led to the subject of golf, and her exclamation, " My husband loves to play golf, but I hate that game! " My initial interpretation was that she had no interest in the game that her husband was somewhat obsessed with.  To the contrary, she explained that she played golf, and that her "hatred" referred to her frustration at the lack of ability to conquer it...

I don't know if the grin on my face was obvious, but as she motioned a golf swing from her chair, complaining about how that "dog gone" ball just wouldn't go where she wanted it to.  I couldn't help but picture her on the course, trying to keep her emotions under control, and not bend a club over her knee...or her husbands head!  I also couldn't help but picture myself, my golfing buddies, and millions of golfers around the world, telling similar stories, on multiple occasions, throughout our collective golfing careers.

After a brief pause, as she wound up her illustration, I smiled at her, and said, " Guess what...You're not alone...You are Team Bogey ".
